Post funky colors
I looked around a little and didn't see that anyone had posted about this yet- I noticed that on elements using the css3pie behavior, their background color was affected because of pie.

I whipped up an example of this here: http://inorganik.net/demo.html

Each demo explains what's been done with the css, and you can see how colors get distorted in internet explorer (all versions). Is this a known issue? Do I just need to change my css?

Thank you for your help!

This looks like the z-index issue cropping up in a new way. In your second test, the CSS3 backgrounds disappear because they're slipping behind the parent's solid background. The same thing is happening in the second test, but because its parent's background is slightly translucent, you see the CSS3 backgrounds through a pink-colored lens so to speak.

In both cases adding position:relative to the elements seems to fix the issues.
