Since a limitation of this script is that it always needs a relative url to the htc file, and this may not always be the same for different pages stored in a CMS, I was wondering if this can be coded around in Apache with some rule in the .htaccess file which would always serve the correct htc file no matter where it was requested from?

It would probably need to match it on filename and then serve the file from a different path?

Would some sort of alias work?

I see no reason why that couldn't work. The only downside I can see would be that if you're still using a relative path, you'll likely get PIE.htc loaded from different URLs depending on the directory your HTML file sits in. This means IE will be downloading PIE.htc more times than it needs to.
