Background positioning issue in IE8

Post subject:  Background positioning issue in IE8


I'm having issues with the background color position on certain elements. When viewed the background appears slightly offset above the element.

You can have a look here, scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see 3 social media buttons:


I've tried for several hours now to fix the issue without any luck so far. If anyone can shed any light on this would very appreciated.

I can't tell exactly why it's happening, but this appears to be due to the "* {position:relative}" rule in your stylesheet. This wildcard rule is applying position:relative to some of PIE's own internal rendering elements, which for some reason is causing an extra offset.

You could perhaps try adding a rule to undo the positioning for PIE's elements... something like:

css3-container * {position:static;}
