My issue came from elements with a relative position. Once I removed those styles, everything worked as it should with CSS Pie.

Just like you, it only happened when PIE.htc was active. When I removed the PIE.htc code and the page renders normally (with straight corners).

I'd suggest trying to remove position: relative; from any classes and see what happens.

Maybe your issue is different than mine was, but it sounds very much the same.

@TwisterMc: Thank you for your help; the position:relative issue you mention is indeed a common issue. Unfortunately philec's problem is different, it works just fine in most IE8 installs but fails in a single IE8 install. This is a problem with the user's browser install, not with philec's code.

Help! I'm running into the same issue. It's IE9 running as IE8 in developer tools on Windows 7, 64-bit.

The elements aren't positioned (relative or otherwise).

It works fine in IE7 mode. In IE8 mode, the elements briefly flash then disappear.

It actually works in the same IE8 mode when served from a different server that serves up the HTC file as the correct mime type. I have a ticket in to the server admin to change the mime type on the other that doesn't work. I'll report if that makes the difference.

Setting the correct mime type didn't fix it.

I was having the same issue. The background and other styles would be visible for a second then they would disappear. But when I added position:relative; it fixed the issue.

OK folks, let's try to keep this thread on-topic. This is about PIE not working in only particular IE installations, i.e. it works in most IE8s but fails in one particular IE8. If you are just having problem in a particular IE version but have not had it work in other installs of the same version, then this is not the thread for you; please start a new thread or better yet check the docs and other threads as your issue is likely covered.
