Post showing display:none for divs inside dropdown menu

having a problem in ie8. ie7 seems fine.

I have a drop down menu and I am using dropdown.js which on mouse over the parent div, makes a child div visible (visibility:visible).

Now in my prototype (static html) the menu works fine. However when building out the master page in .Net, I have the following problem.

the page loads and the child div is hidden (visibility:hidden) when you mouse over the parent the child div appears (visibility:visible), but the css3-container objects show as display:none. No where in the dom is a parent or ancester display:none

I tried -pie-watch-ancestors: but nothing happened I even tried subtracting a number incase ie was using 0 for the first ancester still nothing.

Also the input and button that are inquestions have position releative and z-index infact the z-index is 10 above the parent div.

Then once you mouse ove rthe input both fileds appear.

Any ideas?
